Large scale straightening machines

The new generation of heavy plate straightening machines made by G+K truly excels due their very compact design, yet generously proportioned construction type. A solid frame of steel composite material braced with four tension rods absorbs all arising forces. Straightening of metal sheet plates is conducted by bending the material up and down between a combination of three rollers with decreasing bending amplitudes; i.e. towards the rising straightening seat.

The straightening roller system consists of four upper and three lower rollers. Every roller is powered by a high-performance planetary gear. Therefore, this single drive construction type is both extremely space and energy efficient. Due to their high load the rollers are positioned very close to each other. Also, they are extremely stable since they are mounted on back-up roller cascades and are placed in individually height-adjustable cassettes. These cassettes are held in their position by solid V-ledges and are braced with the construction frame ahead of loading by the process material. The sideway tension of the cassettes is achieved via hydraulic cylinders.
The cassette construction allows for relatively swift exchange of rollers for cleaning or grinding works, etc.  At first, the metal plates pass through the machine in rolling direction, subsequently, against it, and possibly, one more time again in rolling direction. Therefore, in order to enable the change of direction, it is crucial that the straightening system’s inclination angles can be adjusted within a matter of seconds.
